Manufactured Housing December 2020 Production & Shipment Data, Annual Total 2020 Manufactured Home Statistics

INDUSTRY PRODUCTION INCREASES IN DECEMBER 2020

Washington, D.C., February 3, 2021 – The Manufactured Housing Association for Regulatory Reform (MHARR) reports that according to official statistics compiled on behalf of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), HUD Code manufactured housing industry year-over-year production increased in December 2020. Just-released statistics indicate that HUD Code manufacturers produced 7,633 homes in December 2020, a 13.4% increase from the 6,731 new HUD Code homes produced during December 2019. Cumulative industry production for 2020 thus totals 94,390 homes, as compared with 94,615 homes produced during 2019, a slight decline of .23%. 

Annual HUD Code industry production totals since 2009 are thus:

  • 2009 – 49,683 homes
  • 2010 – 50,056 homes (+.84%)
  • 2011 – 51,618 homes (+3.1%)
  • 2012 – 54,881 homes (+6.3%)
  • 2013 – 60,228 homes (+9.7%)
  • 2014 – 64,334 homes (+6.8%)
  • 2015 – 70,544 homes (+9.6%)
  • 2016 – 81,136 homes (+15.0%)
  • 2017 – 92,902 homes (+14.5%)
  • 2018 – 96,555 homes (+3.9%)
  • 2019 – 94,615 homes (-2.0%)
  • 2020 – 94,390 homes (-.23%)

A further analysis of the official industry statistics shows that the top ten shipment states from the beginning of the industry production rebound in August 2011 through December 2020  — with cumulative, monthly, current year (2020) and prior year (2019) shipments per category as indicated — are:

The December 2020 production data results in no changes to the cumulative top-ten list.                                    .
